ADULT BALLET

Wishing you could start ballet as an adult but held back by the price tag and the time commitment? This class is for you! Every other week on Monday nights, come live your dancing dreams for two whole hours, during which time you'll get great exercise, great community, and great training in ballet technique! Not sure you can commit to a full year? We've got three commitment options so you can choose what's right for you!

Add-On Options:

This class option does not include any compulsory involvement in the studio's annual performance, but the option is still there. There will always be at least one group dance performance open to this class as well as other students in Levels 2 through 6. Rehearsal fees for that dance usually run between $20-$35 per year and include a couple of rehearsal nights, often on Fridays. There is also a mother/daughter dance or a family dance which would be available to Adult Ballet dancers. In addition, if the Adult Ballet class as a whole wants to perform a class dance, they may vote to do so! In such a case, a separate fee will be arranged to cover the costume, choreography, and some show/writer fees.

Opt-Outs:

This program allows you to opt out of a number of our studio services. This program would not include involvement in the annual show, photography day, any dancing that includes storytelling elements, or the Practice4Prizes Program. Most of these services can be made available upon request for an additonal fee. The Registration Fee for this class is cut from $35/individual to $10/individual, and there is no need to either provide a volunteer for the show or pay a Show Fee of $75 if you are only involved in the Family Dance or the one extra dance (often the Finale). If your class votes to have a class dance, you still do not need to provide a volunteer, but note that some fees related to putting on a show will be bundled into your dance cost, depending on many factors. That cost will be made available to you to consider before you are committed. Please note that if you have a child in normal ballet classes, the need to provide a volunteer for your family still applies.

DRESS CODE

The normal attire for ballet classes include tights, a leotard, a skirt or shorts, and ballet shoes. This attire is encouraged, but if you aren't comfortable with that, please feel free to wear athletic attire instead, keeping in mind that the waist must be clearly visible and not covered in bulky clothing. The only traditional item required is ballet shoes, preferably Capezio Hanami brand, in light pink. We will size you for shoes at your first class! (Wear socks until then.) You may wear warm up items which reveal the waist throughout class, but warm up items which hide the waist must be removed after two routines at barre.
